Overview
This Refund Policy explains how cancellations, amendments and refunds are handled for bookings made through RootMyTrip. It should be read together with the fare rules or cancellation policy shown at the time of booking and with the terms of the relevant airline, hotel, tour operator or other supplier.
Where there is a conflict, the supplier's fare rules and the specific conditions displayed for your booking take precedence over this general policy.
Cancellation and refund eligibility
Refund eligibility depends on the type of service booked and on when the cancellation is requested relative to the travel or check-in date. Some bookings are non-refundable, while others may be cancelled for a partial refund or with a cancellation fee.
Flights: refunds follow the fare rules of the airline. Non-refundable fares may still permit statutory taxes and certain government levies to be refunded.
Hotels and accommodation: refunds follow the property's cancellation window and any no-show or early-checkout conditions.
Holiday packages: refunds follow the package cancellation policy and may be reduced by non-recoverable supplier costs already incurred, such as confirmed hotels, transfers or activities.
Visas, insurance and other services: these are generally non-refundable once processing has commenced, except where the service could not be delivered.
How refunds are processed
Approved refunds are initiated to the original method of payment. We do not issue cash refunds. The time taken for the amount to reflect in your account depends on your bank, card issuer or payment provider and on the supplier's refund cycle, and can vary between services.
Where a booking was paid in part, refunds are calculated on the amount actually received by RootMyTrip for that booking, after deducting any applicable cancellation charges, supplier penalties and non-refundable components.
Non-refundable items
Certain charges are non-refundable, including but not limited to convenience or service fees, payment gateway charges, visa application fees, insurance premiums, and any supplier fee that is expressly non-refundable under the applicable fare rule or policy.
How to request a refund
To request a cancellation or refund, raise a request from your RootMyTrip account where available, or contact our support team with your booking reference. Requests are actioned in line with the applicable policy once the supplier has processed the cancellation.
Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first so we can investigate. Raising a chargeback with your bank while a supplier refund is in progress may delay the resolution of your request.
Changes to this policy
RootMyTrip may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version published on this page at the time of your booking applies to that booking.
